Zeus – Thunderbolt, Eagle, and Oak Tree
Zeus, the king of the gods and ruler of the skies, is most famously associated with the thunderbolt, a mighty weapon symbolizing justice, power, and divine authority. Crafted by the Cyclopes, it served as a sign of Zeus’s ability to enforce order and punish wrongdoing. The eagle, his sacred animal, soared as a symbol of his dominion over the heavens and was often seen as an extension of his will. The oak tree, particularly at the oracle of Dodona, embodied endurance and wisdom; its rustling leaves were believed to convey Zeus’s divine messages. Together, these symbols reveal Zeus as the guardian of balance, the voice of law, and the protector of the natural and cosmic order.
