Primordial Gods and Titans – The Ancient Powers
Before the Olympians, the world was shaped by primordial gods and Titans, ancient beings who embodied elemental forces. From Chaos, the void, emerged Gaia (Earth), Uranus (Sky), and Tartarus (the Abyss). Gaia and Uranus bore the Titans, powerful deities like Cronus, Rhea, Oceanus, and Hyperion. Cronus overthrew Uranus, only to be overthrown by his own son Zeus, marking the transition from Titan rule to Olympian dominance.
These early gods represented the raw forces of nature — the sun, moon, rivers, time, and the deep earth. Their battles, especially the Titanomachy (War of the Titans), became foundational myths that explained the order of the cosmos and the rise of divine justice. Though overthrown, the Titans remained part of myth and lore, with some — like Prometheus and Atlas — playing crucial roles in human history and mythological tales.
