The Fall of Icarus – Hubris and the Sun
Icarus and his father Daedalus escaped imprisonment by crafting wings of feathers and wax. Despite his father’s warning, Icarus flew too close to the sun, melting the wax and causing him to fall into the sea. This myth serves as a timeless lesson about hubris (excessive pride), the limits of human ambition, and the dangers of overreaching. Icarus’s fall became a symbol of the balance between freedom and caution, aspiration and humility.
